{"id":1856,"date":"2014-06-15T18:32:40","date_gmt":"2014-06-15T23:32:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mother-natures-son.com\/blog\/?p=1856"},"modified":"2014-06-22T16:47:59","modified_gmt":"2014-06-22T21:47:59","slug":"native-landscape-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/atp.dtn.temporary.site\/blog\/native-landscape-2\/","title":{"rendered":"More Native Landscape"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Here are two more very pretty native plants for your landscape.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Black-eyed Susans\" href=\"http:\/\/www.wildflower.org\/plants\/result.php?id_plant=RUHI2\">Black-eyed Susans<\/a> (<em>Rudbeckia hirta<\/em>) are everywhere right now. They are a native wildflower, members of the Aster family. They look a little like daisies and come in a wide variety of patterns. The petals are mostly yellow and some varieties have different patterns of brown spots and patches.<\/p>\n<p>They&#8217;ll grown just about anywhere and can tolerate the full sun. They provide nectar for insects and seeds for some birds. The Native Americans used the root for a tea which had medicinal purposes.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1859\" style=\"width: 1034px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/mother-natures-son.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/black_eyed-susans_3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1859\" class=\"wp-image-1859 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/mother-natures-son.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/black_eyed-susans_3.jpg\" alt=\"black_eyed susans_3\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" srcset=\"https:\/\/atp.dtn.temporary.site\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/black_eyed-susans_3.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/atp.dtn.temporary.site\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/black_eyed-susans_3-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/atp.dtn.temporary.site\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/black_eyed-susans_3-449x300.jpg 449w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-1859\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Black-Eyed Susans<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The second native I have today is a <a title=\"Turk's Cap\" href=\"http:\/\/www.wildflower.org\/plants\/result.php?id_plant=MAARD\">Turk&#8217;s Cap<\/a>\u00a0(<em>Malvaviscus arboreus var. drummondii<\/em>). This grows as a shrub in the landscape and gets about 3 feet high, although some can get as high as 9 feet. These are growing in a planting area along an east-facing side of a house. They get full some in the morning and some sun until early evening.<\/p>\n<p>You can see the small, red flowers, but they&#8217;re mostly hidden by the large leaves. It looks like they&#8217;re trying to hide.
